Things to Remember as Your Child Returns to Dance This Month

Group of children standing together in a dance studio ready to begin class

From Monday 19th April 2021, Zest Dance's children's classes resumed in-person instruction in Stratford-upon-Avon and New Milton, with brand new classes launching in Kenilworth. After extended periods of online-only classes during the pandemic, the dance school aimed to help students reconnect with the studio environment and their peers.

Addressing Student Concerns

The organisation recognised that returning students might experience various emotional challenges. It is okay if you've forgotten what it feels like to be in that dance class. It is okay to feel nervous.

Children may have lost confidence in their dancing abilities, forgotten choreography or steps, grown out of uniforms and tap shoes, or felt disconnected from classmates. All of this is completely normal after an extended break.

Supporting the Whole Child

Zest Dance believes that dance instruction extends beyond physical technique. We encouraged parents to remind their children of some key messages:

  • It's acceptable to feel uncertain returning to class
  • Nervousness is a normal response
  • Kindness toward friends and teachers matters
  • Dancing should be enjoyable and fun
  • There's no need to 'catch up' — students are progressing appropriately

The school committed to rebuilding relationships, rekindling joy in dance, promoting positivity, and strengthening community belonging as students transitioned back to in-person training.

Come and try a class

Their first class could be the start of something big.

  • Two full weeks of classes from £14–£20
  • No long-term commitment
  • Friendly teachers who help nervous beginners settle in
