Uniform Guide
Everything you need to know about what to wear for each class. For your trial, there's nothing special to buy. Just come in comfortable clothing and we'll sort the rest.
For Your Trial Class
You don't need to buy any uniform for a trial class. Just bring your child in comfortable clothing they can move in, and we'll let you know what to get if they decide to continue.
Uniform by Class Type
Ballet
Required
- Pale pink or white leotard
- Pink or white ballet skirt (optional)
- Pink ballet shoes
Optional
- Ballet cardigan for warm-up
Hair must be tied back or in a bun for ballet classes.
Tap
Required
- Any colour leotard or dance top
- Dance shorts, leggings, or skirt
- Black or tan tap shoes
Optional
- Tap trousers
Hair must be tied back.
Modern / Commercial
Required
- Any colour leotard or fitted dance top
- Dance shorts or leggings
Optional
- Jazz shoes or bare feet (discuss with your teacher)
Street Dance
Required
- Comfortable, fitted clothing (leggings and a top are ideal)
- Trainers (clean soles)
Optional
- Zest Dance hoodie
Baggy jeans are not suitable. Clothing should allow free movement.
Acro
Required
- Fitted leotard or sports vest
- Fitted shorts or leggings (nothing loose)
- Bare feet
Nothing loose that could catch or interfere with acrobatic work. No jewellery.
Musical Theatre
Required
- Any colour leotard or fitted dance top
- Dance shorts, leggings, or jazz pants
- Jazz shoes or character shoes
Little Lemons / Tots
Required
- Comfortable clothing your child can move freely in
- Bare feet or ballet shoes
Optional
- Pink leotard and skirt if your child would like to dress up
No special kit required, especially for trials. Just come as you are.
Adult DanceFit
Required
- Comfortable fitness wear you can move in
- Trainers with clean soles
No dance experience or special kit required.
Zest Dance Branded Clothing
We offer branded Zest Dance t-shirts, hoodies, and bags that students can wear to and from class. These are optional and available to order through your location's teacher.

IDTA Exam Uniform
IDTA examinations have specific uniform requirements that vary by discipline and grade. Your teacher will provide full details well in advance of any exam session. If you have any questions about exam preparation or uniform, just get in touch.
